Reidsville – Reuben Lonnell Thomas of 501 Staples Street died Friday, August 17, 2012. As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1966. Spiritually, he was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served with the United Methodist Men and was a member of the Gospel Choir. Mr. Thomas was a retiree of the Ball Corporation and was an avid golfer. His parents, Australia Motley Thomas and John Edward Thomas, Sr.; brother, John Thomas, Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors are: beloved wife of 26 years, Fannie Christine Harris Thomas; daughters, Torri Staley (Shawn) and Cynthia Parker; sons, Rishawn Thomas and Jerome Harris (Debbie); 2 grandchildren, Gabrielle and Phillip; sisters, Marie Thomas (William) and Evon Thomas; brother, Clarence Thomas; aunt, Louvenia Livingston of Miami, Florida; uncle, Ervin Motley (Yvonne) of Richmond, California; special cousin, Angela Honeycut; mother-in-law, Sue Harris; devoted sisters and brother-in-law, Delores Thomas, Shenna Summers and William Harris; special friends, Charles Davis (Mae), Phil Lawsonn (Ollie), George Rucker (Beverly), Rev. Louise Blackwell and Barbara Graves; other relatives, additional in-laws and friends. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from the Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 1004 West Harrison Street. The family visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 until 2:30 p.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are by Johnson & Sons.
